ICV self-image

Our values

We develop and represent the social image of a controller as:

  • a future-oriented intermediary between different interest groups within enterprises and organisations as well as between them;
  • an “interpreter” between the different “languages” attributable to the different perception of various tasks, responsibilities and cultural experiences as well as discrepancies concerning the sector-specific and technical knowledge base;
  • a person responsible for transparency and a partner of the management in the decision-making process on all management levels;
  • a competent expert who owing to the solid basis of generally accepted education remaining in line with practical requirements (e.g. IGC Certificate) embodies an independent professional image;
  • a person co-responsible for “Business Economics“.

The essence of Controlling – The perspective of ICV and IGC

The current state of the understanding of controlling and role of a controller was formulated by the International Controller Association (ICV) and the International Group of Controlling (IGC) a policy paper and was presented on the evening before the 38th Controller Congress in April 2013 in Munich. Controlling is an important factor of company’s success in German speaking countries, says the policy paper. Simultaneously there are a lot of uncertainties what’s the heart of controlling. The goal of the project is to formulate the current state of the understanding of controlling and role of a controller as a policy paper of the ICV and the IGC.

The ICV brings controllers together, spreads the philosophy and practice of controlling, supports the exchange of experience and improves the qualification of its members. The ICV's main goals are the exchange of experience and the communication among its members as well as the focus on future-oriented trends and development directions.
The core of the association's activities are the 70 regional and branch-oriented work and project groups which meet several times a year and serve as a forum for exchange of experience. Beside the yearly ControllerCongress we organise further regional and branch-oriented conferences. It is also by means of publications like the Controller Statements that the ICV contributes to the exchange of experience.
